Concorde - Supersonic Commercial Jetliner

Unlike any other commercial aircrafts, the Supersonic Concorde is powered by 4 turbojet afterburner engines instead of the turbofans or turboprops. It has a maximum speed of Mach 2.2 (means more than twice the speed of sound), service ceiling at 60,000ft (more than half of the subsonic commercial airliners at about 40,000ft) and carries 120 passengers.

The Concorde has many different considerations in design from the conventional airliners. It consists of the extreme low air pressure and high radiation exposure at 60,000ft. Brakes and stronger landing gears due to high speed take-off and landing. Heating issue while accelerating to supersonic speed and many more.

A total of 20 Concordes were built and owned by Air France and British Airways. Braniff International Airways was an American airline that once owned the Concordes but have sold all of them back to British Airways and Air France due to dramatic losses.

It is an aircraft jointly developed by the British aviation company, BAC (now BAE Systems) and the French Aérospatiale (now EADS).
