Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier

Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers are the largest in the world that operates by the US Navy as the moving airbase. They are equipped with most advanced weaponry and radar systems, has the length of 333 m which has got the space big enough to store up to 85 aircraft and about 6,000 crews. These carriers are powered by 2 A4W nuclear reactors, capable to sail the ship at about 30 knots (56 km/h).

It cost about USD4.5billion each and the annual operating cost is expected at USD160million. The beauty of these carriers is the capability of continuously operating for 20 years without refueling.

US has 10 carriers of this class in service and 1 Kitty Hawk which has been decommissioned recently.
